TI Calculator Doc.3:

To Print the Screen using a Computer.

On the Calculator:  Do the work required for the problem.  When you want to make a permanent copy of one of the screens of the calculator, hook the calculator to the grey GRAPH LINK cable of the Computer through the I/O port on the Calculator.

On the Computer:

Go to Start

Go to Programs

                        Go to TI GRAPH LINK

                        Go to TI 83

                        Press [Enter]

                                Select LINK

                        Select GET SCREEN

                        Press GET SCREEN

                        Press PRINT

This is useful in the following cases:

If you want a quick copy of a graph:

Follow the steps to enter data into the calculator and to create a graph. (Directions found on TI Calculator Document #1.)  When the graph is on the calculator screen, print the screen as described above.

If you want to pinpoint a particular data point on the graph:

Trace along the graph until you reach the data point that you want to record. (Directions found on TI Calculator Document #1.)  The x and y values at that point will be visible at the base of the graph.  At that point, print the screen as described above.

If you want to record the information from the linear regression:

Determine the information describing the “best fit” line for a linear graph. (Directions found on TI Calculator Document #1.) When the information for the slope of the line and the y-intercept when x=0 is on the screen, print the screen as described above.

Using the Graphical Analysis Program for the TI Calculator

If you would like to make a nice graph from the data in the calculator, it is possible to transfer the data in the calculator to a graphing program on the computer.  Hook the calculator to the grey GRAPH LINK cable of the Computer through the I/O port on the Calculator.

On the Computer:

Double click on the GRAPHICAL ANALYSIS Icon on the computer screen.

Select File

Select [Import from Calculator.]

Arrow down to L2 and Hit [ENTER]

( Note that the L1 and L2 lists have small  black squares in the left hand margin.)

            Select TRANSMIT and Hit [ENTER].

On the Computer

Data will appear in the data tables on the computer screen.  You may have to click on the data table just below the last entry in order to be sure that all data is transferred.

To Make a Graph:

Method 1:  Using the GRAPHICAL ANALYSIS PROGRAM

Move the cursor to the graph and click.

            Select GRAPH

            Select CONNECTING LINE

Method 1: IF YOU PREFER ANOTHER PROGRAM THAT IS AVAILABLE:

Highlight the data in the data table and COPY.

Close this program and open either Lotus or Excell, if available.

[PASTE] the data into the Spread Sheet program available and make a graph using the spread sheet program
